Who we are
Tint My Ride is a vehicle window tinting company based at Foxhunters Rd, Whitley Bay, NE25 8UG. You can contact us on 07304 036107 or by email at tintmyridenewcastle@yahoo.co.uk.
These terms apply to all enquiries, quotes, bookings and tinting work carried out by Tint My Ride. By requesting a quote or booking an appointment, you accept these terms.
Our services
Tint My Ride provides professional vehicle window tinting. All work is carried out by appointment, so we can allow the right amount of time for each vehicle and finish it to the standard we are known for.
We use high-quality window film fitted by hand, right to the edges wherever the window design allows. Our tinting work is backed by a 12-month workmanship guarantee against fitting defects, as set out below.
Quotations and pricing
Quotes are given based on the vehicle, the windows to be tinted and the shade of film you choose. Prices are valid for 30 days from the date of the quote. We will always confirm the price before you book.
A quote is an estimate based on the information you give us about your vehicle. If the vehicle or its condition differs from what was described, the final price may change. We will tell you before any work begins if this is the case.
Booking and appointments
All tinting work is carried out by appointment. A booking is not confirmed until Tint My Ride has agreed the appointment date and time with you directly.
When you book, we will give you a realistic collection time based on the work involved. Most cars are with us for around half a day. The exact time depends on the number and shape of the windows, any old film that needs removing and the condition of the glass. We will give you a clearer collection time when your appointment is booked.
Cancellation and no-show policy
If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please let us know as early as possible so we can offer the slot to another customer. We do not charge for cancellations made with reasonable notice.
If you fail to attend a confirmed appointment without notice, or arrive more than 30 minutes late, we may ask you to rebook. Repeated no-shows may mean we ask for a deposit before confirming future bookings.
Payment terms
Payment is due on collection of your vehicle once the work is complete. We accept cash and bank transfer. We will confirm accepted payment methods when you book.
If you cannot pay on collection, please speak to us before the work is completed so we can agree a suitable arrangement. Work is not released until payment is made in full.
12-month workmanship guarantee
Our window tinting work is guaranteed for 12 months from the date of fitting, against fitting defects such as peeling, bubbling or lifting at the edges. If a fitting defect occurs within this period, we will put it right at no charge.
The guarantee does not cover damage caused by misuse, neglect or failure to follow aftercare instructions, for example winding tinted windows down before the film has set, cleaning the film with abrasive or ammonia-based products, or applying stickers or adhesives to the tinted glass.
The guarantee applies to the original vehicle and the original registered keeper. It is not transferable.
Customer responsibility for glass condition and existing damage
Tint film is fitted to the inside of the glass. The finished result depends on the condition of the glass underneath. Existing scratches, chips, scoring, delamination or previous tint residue may be visible through the film or affect how the film adheres.
We inspect the glass before fitting and will tell you if we spot anything that may affect the finish. However, some defects only become visible once the film is applied, and we cannot be held responsible for the condition of existing glass. If old film needs to be removed before we fit new film, this is chargeable and will be agreed with you in advance.
Film care and aftercare
To keep your tint in good condition, please follow the aftercare instructions we provide when you collect your vehicle. In particular, keep tinted windows fully closed for at least 4 to 5 days after fitting to let the adhesive set, and use only a soft cloth with an ammonia-free glass cleaner when cleaning the inside of the glass.
The film normally reaches working hardness after 4 to 5 days and can take around 30 days to cure completely. A slightly hazy appearance or small moisture pockets during this period can be normal and should clear as the film dries.
Customer obligations
When you bring your vehicle to us, you are responsible for:
- Making sure the vehicle is available for the agreed appointment time
- Removing personal belongings, valuables and anything attached to the windows before you leave the vehicle with us
- Ensuring we have reasonable access to the vehicle, including any alarm or immobiliser information we may need to move or lock the vehicle safely
- Informing us in advance of any known damage to the glass or any previous tinting, signage or adhesive residue
- Collecting the vehicle at the agreed time, or letting us know promptly if you are delayed
We take care of every vehicle in our custody, but we cannot be responsible for personal belongings left inside the vehicle.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law.
Our liability for work carried out is limited to the cost of the tinting work we have done on your vehicle. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of use of the vehicle, hire car costs or loss of earnings, however arising, to the extent permitted by law.
Where work is carried out for a consumer, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected. If the work is not carried out with reasonable care and skill, or is not fit for purpose, we will put it right or provide a refund as appropriate.
Compliance with UK window tinting regulations
For vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1985, the law requires the windscreen to let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows to let at least 70% through. There is no legal tint limit for the rear side windows or rear windscreen, so these can be tinted as dark as you prefer. Earlier vehicles have a 70% minimum for both the windscreen and front side windows.
We will only fit tints that meet these legal limits to the windscreen and front side windows, and we will always tell you if a requested shade would not be road legal. Full guidance is set out on our tint law page. It is your responsibility to keep the vehicle legal after tinting, for example by not removing or replacing film in a way that would breach the regulations.
Complaints
We want you to be happy with the work we do. If you are not satisfied, please contact us first on 07304 036107 or at tintmyridenewcastle@yahoo.co.uk and we will do our best to resolve the matter promptly and fairly.
If we cannot resolve your complaint directly, and you are a consumer, you may be able to refer the matter to an alternative dispute resolution service. We will provide the relevant details on request.
Governing law
These terms and any contract between you and Tint My Ride are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising in connection with these terms will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law or how we work. Any changes will be posted on this page. These terms were last updated in September 2026.
